A Week in Links #8

September 4, 2010
  • Amy Davidson on corruption, Kabul Bank and Hamid Karzai’s brother.
  • Johann Hari on the Labour leadership contest, supporting Ed Miliband and pointing out that David Miliband covered up torture (just in case you hadn’t noticed this very pertinent fact, and a lot of people seem not to have).
  • Subir Ghosh shows how India’s Prevention of Torture Bill, 2010, actually isn’t designed to prevent torture.
  • Mandy Merck analyses the sexes and sport in relation to Caster Semenaya and other female athletes.
  • Bidisha on sexist language and misogyny.  I’d add ‘feisty’.

And now for a bit of beauty:

Especially for RickB who has never seen The Water Babies.  Weirdo.
