Cheeky bastards Amazon!

October 13, 2009

Just ordered a book on Amazon – looks like a good one too:  Bright-Sided: How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America by Barbara Ehrenreich.  Taster here.

As always, I went to click on free delivery and discovered that the system is now set up so that the free delivery option can’t be taken up without also taking up a month’s free trial to Amazon Prime (details below), which is set to collect £47.97 from your designated payment option when the trial is up.

Now we know how Amazon are funding their change from Royal Mail to HDN – by counting on people forgetting to turn the Prime trial off before it charges.  Shame they couldn’t have used their buying power to help out the workers – but where would the profit be in that?

As my memory doesn’t even allow me to remember what the boyf’s nipples look like from one day to the next, I have already turned the upgrade off – it is in the My Account section.
